Independence Statement
Last updated: 2026-09-24
CookieTelemetry does not accept affiliate commissions, paid placement or vendor approval of its findings. Until 24 September 2026 we were enrolled in the affiliate programmes of Termly, CookieYes, Complianz, Enzuzo and CookieHub. On 24 September 2026 we exited all five: we gave notice to end each enrolment and removed every affiliate link from this site. CookieYes's programme terms set a 30-day contractual notice period, which runs until 24 October 2026; there are no CookieYes affiliate links on this site and no payments. We earned $0 in commissions from any programme. Apart from that notice period, CookieTelemetry has no commercial relationship with any consent-management vendor. Vendors do not fund, review or approve our findings. We are building monitoring services for website operators; we do not sell to CMP vendors.
What changed, and when
Until 24 September 2026, CookieTelemetry was enrolled in five CMP vendor affiliate programmes: Termly (via Impact), CookieYes (via Impact), Complianz (via ReferralCandy), Enzuzo (via Tapfiliate) and CookieHub (direct). No commission was ever earned or paid under any of the five. On 24 September 2026 we gave formal notice to end all five programmes and, the same day, removed every affiliate link, tracking parameter andrel="sponsored" attribute from this site. CookieYes's terms (ยง18.8) specify that termination takes effect 30 days after the vendor receives our notice, so that contractual notice period runs until 24 October 2026. During it there are no CookieYes affiliate links on this site and no payments.
How former affiliates are labelled
Wherever this site links to or shows a result for one of the five vendors, it carries the label "Former affiliate (enrolled until 24 Sep 2026; notice given; $0 earned)". For CookieYes the label also gives the contractual notice period ending 24 October 2026. Every other vendor is labelled "No commercial relationship".
Why we ended them
CookieTelemetry measures whether consent-management vendors' own websites behave the way their marketing claims before a visitor makes a choice. An affiliate relationship with the vendors we measure is a structural conflict of interest, even when, as here, it produced no income. Independence is the product: a reader should be able to trust a result without checking whether we were paid to publish it.
What this means going forward
- Every vendor link on this site points to that vendor's own plain homepage, with
rel="nofollow noopener", never a tracked or monetized destination. - Outbound click counting, where enabled, records only which vendor, traffic channel and page type a click was on. It never depended on, and no longer touches, any affiliate identifier.
- Historical findings about the five former affiliates are disclosed with the affiliate relationship and its dates attached, not scrubbed from the record.
- We now profit only if we find and report real issues to potential monitoring customers. That is a different incentive, and we disclose it too. See the conflict-of-interest section of our methodology.
- We are building monitoring services for website operators; we do not sell to CMP vendors.
Not legal advice. This page is a factual disclosure of CookieTelemetry's own commercial relationships, not a legal opinion about any vendor's contract terms.
